Joseph Ahmad Obtains Jury Verdict in FMLA Case
In January 2006, Joseph Ahmad obtained a judgment of nearly $400,000 on behalf of a corporate pilot who filed suit against a large Houston company under the Family Medical Leave Act. The chief pilot went on medical leave. Shortly after the pilot returned to work, the corporation terminated him. The corporation argued that the pilot had been terminated for failure to comply with safety obligations. Prior to trial, the company offered $5,000 to settle the case. The jury unanimously found that the corporation violated the Family Medical Leave Act.
