Three AZA Courtroom Attorneys Earn Selections in “Who’s Who in Energy” List

HOUSTON – The complex commercial litigation and intellectual property boutique Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing P.C., or AZA, is home to three attorneys who have earned selection to the “Who’s Who in Energy” list of energy industry leaders in seven major U.S. cities.

AZA partners Sean Gorman, Todd Mensing and John Zavitsanos were selected to the exclusive listing, which was compiled by the editors of the Houston Business Journal and six other business journals in Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis and San Antonio. The full list is scheduled to be published on Nov. 23, 2012.

The editors of all seven publications selected 100 key people in each city’s energy industry, encompassing legal, financial and engineering professionals. Selections were made based on open nominations, industry outreach and internal research by each publication. This marks the second selections for Mr. Mensing and Ms. Zavitsanos, who also appeared in the 2011 list.

Mr. Gorman is an acclaimed litigator and former managing partner of a national law firm’s Houston office. He provides extensive experience in complex business litigation and arbitration matters for energy companies and other clients as both plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Gorman has represented clients based in the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East in energy, chemical, petrochemical, oil field services and other matters. He has earned selection to The Best Lawyers in America for three years.

Mr. Mensing focuses on complex commercial litigation in a variety of areas, including energy, real estate and construction matters, trade secret cases and breach of contract claims. His recent cases have included successfully defending a petrochemical inspection company in a $10 million trademark infringement suit, and representing an international gas storage and pipeline company in a $100 million environmental contamination dispute against the State of New Jersey. He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law.

Mr. Zavitsanos primarily represents companies and individuals in complex commercial disputes and oil & gas litigation. He regularly is hired by other lawyers on the eve of trial to assume first-chair responsibility in the courtroom. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Since 2003, Mr. Zavitsanos has earned selection to the Texas Super Lawyers list, where he has been named one of Texas’ Top 100 lawyers for six years. He also has been listed among in The Best Lawyers in America for eight years.
