June 1, 2017

HOUSTON – Trial lawyer John Zavitsanos and Jane Langdell Robinson have been selected for the prestigious task of writing the 2018 issue of O’Connor’s Texas Rules * Civil Trials, known as “the trial lawyer’s bible” for Texas civil courts.

Ever since then-Appellate Judge Michol O’Connor wrote the first edition 25 years ago, O’Connor’s Texas Rules * Civil Trials has been regarded each year as the essential rule book for trying a civil case in Texas. Reviewers on Amazon.com call it “invaluable” and “a must have in the legal field.”

The publisher chose Mr. Zavitsanos, co-founder of Houston litigation boutique AZA, or Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Mensing, as lead author for 2018. His co-author Ms. Robinson, a seasoned appellate lawyer, is of counsel at the firm.

“It is a terrific honor to be given this responsibility,” said Mr. Zavitsanos, whose courtroom skills are widely respected and often feared. “Every smart business trial lawyer knows you’ve got to have a copy of O’Connor’s Texas Rules * Civil Trials handy. It is indispensable, and we are all indebted to Judge O’Connor for providing that very first important guide.”

In 1992, Ms. O’Connor founded Jones McClure Publishing, now called simply O’Connor’s, and produced her first civil trial guide for Texas. Her mission was to provide up-to-date, user-friendly law books, written in plain English for lawyers in the courtroom. From there, she published numerous other books for Texas, federal and California practitioners. To learn more, visit: https://www.oconnors.com/.

AZA, or Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Mensing, is a Houston-based law firm that is home to true courtroom lawyers with a formidable track record in complex commercial litigation, including energy, intellectual property, and business dispute cases.
